How I work

I'd describe myself as collaborative, compassionate, and growth-oriented - therapy will be guided by your needs and focused on helping you be well, heal, or take next steps. My goal is to support your wellbeing in any season of life – whether that means equipping you with communication skills to connect meaningfully with others, challenging worries that drain your energy, or processing major life changes so you can thrive in your daily rhythm. I strive to remain curious about your specific experiences so I can understand how best to help. I'm also passionate about supporting parents through pregnancy and postpartum, from navigating mood and self-care in a new context or processing major transitions in personal identity or relationships.

As a psychologist and sleep researcher with nearly 15 years of experience treating sleep concerns, I am dedicated to helping adults discover rest and the restorative benefits of quality sleep. I specialize in behavioral sleep medicine - I believe you don’t have to rely on medications or other gimmicks to sleep. I’m an expert in CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia) and treat a number of other sleep disorders, such as night terrors and delayed sleep phase disorder. I will help you recognize the internal and external elements impacting your sleep that are within your control to change. Through personalized interventions backed by science, we will change habits and thoughts that are holding you back from restful sleep and full daytime energy. Even if you are in a stage of life where sleep disruptions are expected (as in the case of pregnancy, postpartum, or parenting an infant), there are ways to adapt and support your sleep as you establish new routines and rhythms.

As a multiculturally responsive psychologist

I take time to ask questions about what identities matter to you so that I can more fully engage with who you are and appreciate your context in therapy. Although some of the work we’ll do together will be structured and prescriptive, I do not practice a one-size-fits all approach. I will never put you in a box. As a Latina and multiracial therapist, I am especially interested in helping people pursue emotional health through therapy and exploring how (bi)cultural values or experiences shape your sense of self. I also prioritize your identities that are “unseen”(e.g., sexual orientation, religious affiliation, etc.) and will support you in integrating these identities in your mental health journey. Expect me to ask for your feedback during our work together to ensure that I am attuned to your whole self and your specific needs.
